Community Based Social marketing Programme
HLFPPT has commenced its operations in Orissa in 2001 with the implementation of the community based social marketing programme in the four identified high priority districts. This programme was based on the design of the community based social marketing programme and over the three years 2004-2007 marketed 6.4 million condoms and 445,000 lakh cycles of oral pills through a community based social marketing network of 900 Tarang partners located in 2125 villages of the districts of Khurdah, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Phulbani(Kandhamaal). The 2125 represented 56% of villages and 75% of the rural population of these four districts. The community based social marketing network has been able to make deep inroads to the tribal villages and been able to gain credibility of operation through the last seven years operation.
HLFPPT has been implementing the NACO supported social marketing programme in three districts of Orissa. This project over the four month has covered1200 villages, opened 1500 outlets and attained a sale of 5.6 million condoms, 0.8 lakh cycles of OCP. This marketing programme is operated through a network of 7stockists, 600 retailers and 900 Tarang partners serviced by a team of 2 AreaManagers, 3 Field Sales Officers and 6 promotion staff.
HLFPPT has linkages with over 14 NGOs working on various health programmes and on ground execution of marketing programmes. HLFPPT has been collaborating lead institutions in Orissa working on various health related issues including the Reproductive Health categories.
Program Support Unit (PSU)
HLFPPT has run the PSU operation in Orissa for approximately three years to provide the technical support to the Orissa State AIDS Control Society for HIV/AIDS. Through these operations HLFPPT has provided reasonable contribution to the Orissa's priority in fighting the menace of HIV. Recently HLFPPT is also partnering with the NRHM-Orissa to run and manage 10 numbers of PHCs in the district of Phulbani (Kandhamal). Through this intervention HLFPPT is going to contribute directly to the health sector in particular district of Orissa.HLFPPT is also providing support to the NIPI-Orissa for implementing their project on MCH in three districts of Orissa.
